The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an international treaty that was adopted in 1992 and went into force in 1994. Its objective is to "stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system".
The main responsibility of the UNFCCC is to provide leadership and support for international efforts to address climate change. This includes promoting cooperation and coordination among countries, fostering the exchange of information and technology, and supporting the development and implementation of national and international policies and actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
